1920S BATHROOM REMODEL IDEAS

{intro} im catherine arensberg, an exteriordesigner in mobile, alabama. this is my story, and i'd love for you to be a part of it. thisis simple.honest.design. it is typical of a bungalow style house of the size and ageof ours to only have one bathroom. when we moved into the house 8 years ago, one bathroomwas plenty. but with our growing family, 6 people using one bathroom proved to be morethan just a little crowded. we’ve had a space under roof reserved for a second bathroomall along, but have held off on the project until this year when baby #4 was born. the project started with a buffet dresserthat i found on a trash pile. i knew that i wanted the rest of the bathroom to be verylight in color, so i painted the vanity a

dark color for variation and added light drawerpulls. we were able to save quite a bit of money by purchasing the vanity top througha local fabricator that had a scrap of marble that fit our needs. a honed marble top, doubleundermount sinks, and widespread faucets are all exactly the look i wanted for this room. space was very tight so we opted for a cornershower with clear glass walls to make the bathroom feel bigger. ive been looking fora place to introduce a herringbone pattern in the house, and decided to add this elementwith the tile shower walls. this type of pattern is a lot of extra work because it requiresmost of the tile to be cut before it can be attached to the wall.we kept the original wood floors – another

money saver over purchasing and laying tile-and sanded and sealed them so they will be easier to clean. i chose an almost white colorfor the walls, ceiling, and trim to make the space seem more open. i love adding colorsthrough the dã©cor against the blank canvas of a clean white wall. we can easily changethe look of the entire room with just a few accessories if our tastes change later on. if you need more details about any of theproducts used in this design, i’ve included a source list in the description section below,as well my number one bonus tip on how to save money on your next project. i hope that you’ve enjoyed the grand tourof our brand new space! next time, you'll

get to know me a little bit better as l showyou where i learned how to design and introduce you to some of my talented friends. see youin just a couple weeks with a new episode of simple.honest.design.
