19 DEEP BATHROOM VANITY CABINETS

welcome to our video walk-through explaining how to securely install undermount ceramic sink in a granite work surface. we will be using the patented g-clip and z-plates to hold the sink in place. firstly, glenn centered the bowl on the cutout, and then set out the position of the z-plates. the z-plate provides an offset of approximately 10-mil (1cm). as a flange on this particular sink isabout 15-mil (1.5cm), we need to grind you down to roughly11-mil (1.1cm)

due to the manufacturing process, most manufacturers quote at least plusminus two milimeters tolerance on the brochure size of their ceramic sinks. also, flange thicknesses vary frommanufacturer to manufacturer. the pot is very soft, and it takes only a few seconds to grind itdown to our required size. plus, there is still more than enough material left on the sink to fix it securely once glenn has finished grinding. the next job for glenn is to reposition the z-plates and mark the position of the slots

into which the g-clips will be inserted. after a few reference marks, so thatglenn can accurately position the wall chaser, we are ready to cut the slots. with our layout completed, glenn can cut the slots into which the g-clips will be inserted. to cut the slots, glenn is using a wall chaser, equipped with only one diamond blade and the appropriate dust extractor. the slots are approximately 15mm deep, and perpendicular to the worktop. a standard hand-held grinder will do the job,

but the wall changer does it quicker, more accurately, and dust-free. even though this sink is to be fitted in a show room, we will use silicone. the silicone will form a gasket between the granite and the cermamic and compensate for any irregularities from the flange of the sink. we also recommend using double-sided tape on the z-plate, where it comes into contact with the flange of the sink.

now glenn is going to fit the g-clips after re-positioning the z-plates and placing the g-clips in the slots, a light tap with a hammer is all that is required to put the clips under tension and clamp the bowl securely to the underside of the granite. the bowl is now securely fixed to the granite, and can in theory be used immediately. if you use the g-clip method to install your under mount sink, your customers will be guaranteed a lifetime of trouble-free service. another benefit of using the g-clip is that it is removable. if your customer accidentally damages their new ceramic undermount,

it can be replaced in situ relatively easily.
