BATHROOM REMODEL KNOXVILLE TN

hi and welcome to the new norris house. i'm mary leverance. my husband, ken mccown, and i are living here in the house for a year. the house was build by ut architecture students. they designed it and build it over the course of the last two years. and we'll be living in the house for a year to experience the design that the students have put together. come on in. off to the left is the bathroom. the bathroom has a low-flow shower head. the toilet is also low-flow. those help out with conserving water. come on in and see the rest of it. in this area we have the kitchen and dining area. behind this cabinet right here are the washer and dryer.

a full-sized unit. so there are several elements within the house that are from recycled sources. one of them is the kitchen counter top. the counter tops are actually truck beds. they've been recycled, put together in order to form a butcher block-style counter top. and the floor is also recycled. it's from a barn in kentucky that was 100 years old. the students were able to source it from someone in knoxville who owns a company that resells salvaged items. so these are just two great ways that items have been reused and recycled within the house. let's go take a look at the bedroom. the bedroom has a queen-sized bed,

a ceiling fan, and also an air-conditioning unit to keep it cool. alright, so heading from the bedroom into the living area, we have some furniture here that was built and designed by ut students and it's really comfortable. going from the living room over into what's called the "swing space," we're using this space as an office, as you can see. we have a couple desks and multiple computers set up here. this ladder leads up to the loft area. up in the loft is just extra space for relaxing. there are bookshelves up there, a nice window that lets in some great light. so it's just a nice place to go and relax.

well thanks for coming by to see the new norris house. we'll be doing tours a few times a month, so contact the ut school of architecture if you'd like to come by and see the house in person. thanks for stopping by, and hope to see you soon!
