some notes on installing a corner shower.this is a little tiny bathroom as you can see.it was originally just a commode and a sink. we wanted to put in 1 of these corner showers.what happened was when i got inside it, it was just so small.we set it in here on the floor and i pretended i was taking a shower andi was always hitting the walls with my elbows. it was way too small.oops, made a mistake in buying this thing. it ain't gonna work.what i ended up doing was i asked the guy if we could use some of this aluminum door frame stuff. as you can see it fits.we added about 3 inches on each side.
on this side also.and just that 3 inches brought it out from somewhere around in here out to here.it does not look like a lot but it made a huge difference.we were thinking about putting in glass block to bring it out but in this bathroom thatwould have brought it out too far. that is 1 trick.if you have a corner shower install and it's a bit too small then you can extend them outusing aluminum door frame pieces. we brought it out 3 inches this way and 3inches this way from the back wall. the other thing we did when we installed thiscorner shower was, we did not set the bottom aluminum frame on the floor like it is typicallyinstalled.
we put in a cement lip, about 1 and a halfto 2 inches. we also added some drain holes in each cornerhere and back there which you can't really see.in case the floor gets wet the water will flow towards the drain.this really helps to preserve the aluminum; as you can see it has not gotten all corrodedand nasty. and the inside the same. a bit dirty but notcorroded. those are 2 tips for making one of these cornershowers work out a little better than it might otherwise.hope you found it interesting. and hopefully useful.
