last week we laid the first bags for thekitchen and cleared out the bathroom to begin the earth bag add-ons on the mainhouse [music] [sad music] it's a sad day is in littlehomestead-ville thanks ashley for coming and helping thanks for having me being such a trooper
i like hearing all the musicals it was a musical journey for sure lots of singing in the car and musicals we made her watch every evening i don't think we even stopped to consider - we're like "oh my gosh you're gonnalove this" i think yesterday was the only day we didn't watch something musical really?
we got her hooked on one galavant your're hooked on that one that one's a good one that is a good one how was your experience this week, aside from the musicals it was good
i got a sun bruise i saw not just a a sun bruise? not just a sunburn, a sun bruise how does that work? i don't know what is that? people where i'm from get it cuz we'rereally pale but like you know when all the blood cells rush to your skin andthere's just like a lot of them
it turns into a bruise it's okay though are you gonna heal andbe normal again? yeah okay that's good what's the plan gar? putting this away a littlebit so we can run some strings and lines and stuff what's this hole?
this hole is to determine the level of where the floor sets at in the kitchen currently and then we'll know who our level is out here and then i'm measuring across tofind my center well we learned a new term and a new thing this week so that'sgood sun bruise it called pacific
northwest we go there to get paler and theycome here to get tanner bryson's getting the last of the tamping and we'llcall that a wrap for the day the plan is to loosen up this toiletflange and then run this flange six feet behind the door wow we're finally moving the toilet flange and it hasn't been used, that's a good thing i should say so
look at this it's starting to work arrrr arrrrr well good work this is fun they say that grunting makes you stronger is this the tactic you're using? it's like you're driving a wierd car [car noises]
[car squealing noises] you need it all the way to the end of that? yeah, it's gonna sit over here oh my gosh whoa - yah now i'm tired just to watch i'm tired i need a nap i need to go outside now
okay shae & i just got back from a garage sale andwe got the whole bunch of planks like this, that we're going to go ahead anduse for the ceiling i got two big stacks for ten bucks that's the lowest price yet for these things yahoo huh? ya-hoo
originally we put thesoil cement in so that's what's the hard stuff is out here then in mydigging, i forgot about our floor we had put in here this is designed for aradiant floor that we put into the big family room which we have never fired upand used yet so at some point in time i think we'll probably activate it and getit going for heat the flange has to set level so that the toilet sets level
it hasto be raised up approximately 3/8 of an inch to a half an inch up above thesubfloor so that when we put our tile in the tile slips underneath this 18 inchesfrom the center to here and approximately 12 inches from the wall tothe center and that's where that toilet flange sets we're excited about that kitchen layout we're excited about some of the things we want to do
since it's a round shape, maybe round cabinets - everything round the sink is gonna go here yeah, the sink in this little bay area and that way we have a window that will go out tothe courtyard this bay will be completely wall yeah, cabinets cabinets in this area right here and then what do you have?
and thiswill be a window large window and the kitchen cabinets and stuff will probablystop right in here and then this area here, we want to put an island inthe middle of it and they'll be big windows in these threebays right kitchens are best laid out if you can keep your sink, yourrefrigerator and your stove top in
a triangle area people sayanywhere from like five to six feet that way you're most efficient in thatworking area - working space there we want as many curves as possible we want to beable to accommodate a lot of people moving in the kitchen and i thought ofanother one too that we want, we want it to be easy to clean countertops that areeasy to clean and coloring scheme even though we kind of have a general idea ofwhat we're gonna do, we're gonna keep
looking on the internet listening to youand your ideas as well and so that we can - will change and flex exactly whatwe're gonna do as a matter of fact, this morning gary just discovered on theinternet, skylights that we could have down this way which would bring a lot oflight into this room and i really like that idea yeah maybe one here and thenone here or maybe just one in the middle i had some free time this week so i gota little bucket of black paint and i
went around my little tire window and ipainted the tire black so you can actually see it's a tire now the postthat we have here are kind of unique these posts we brought back from someproperty that we have up in the mountains we just had them layingout by the hoop barn and we noticed that they were deteriorating and we wereafraid we were gonna lose them gary came out here - him and the boys and they putall these posts up they weathered but
they're definitely in good shape still well we're just standing off a lot of this gray if you stain over the gray,it just looks more gray so we really need the brown from the wood to come out hit it with some sandpaper real quick so that way it looks nice sand them up and stain them
and put a coat of varnish or hardener or urethane or... should we do that too? ya, something that makes it harder material thanks for being a part of our family stay tuned for next week as we continue work on the kitchen and bathroom withthat toilet flange moved, who knows what

do you have enough wire connectors there? no so this is the wrong way to do it, first of all it's the wrongway to bury line but you know what sometimes you just gotta send it that'swhat we're doing here it's just internet it's not important
only our lives revolve around it i was gonna say i would rather cut a hotline, then go throughthis again we should probably test it oh yeah our family moved from the city to thecountry thanks for taking part in our adventure
