hot damn. it’s time to learn 21 insanely cool things you can do with a hot glue gun by alice mongkongllite 1. swap glue sticks for crayons to create awesome wax art for your children. it’s like that overdone blow dryer/crayon trick, but waaaay better. keep in your mind:
i used an old, cheap glue gun, and now it is set aside strictly for melted crayon art. turn off or silent your phone and pay all your attention to your children during this project. from start to finish. another trick: glued down crayons on a blank canvas, prop it up at a gentle angle, next, turn your heat tool or hair dryer on.
if you're using a hair dryer, put it on a low blower setting or use a diffuser. focus the heat on the crayons. they will quickly turn sweaty, then start dripping down the canvas. at this stage, you can change the tilt of the canvas to control how fast the drips go. let it cool. as you can see, this is an art work minus all
messy shirts you have to clean later. 2. seal your envelopes old-school style with wax seals. carefully start to seed the crayon into the glue gun. you will need to feed it in by hand with a little assistance with the trigger. plug in the glue gun. you will know it is ready when the crayon starts to leak out on its own. for this project, an orange crayon was fed
into the glue gun after a red one to achieve a swirl affect. let dry and harden before touching. 3. plug up bath toys with a simple dot of glue. this will prevent mold build-up you didn’t even know was happening (ewww). before hot glue it: i soaked the toys in 3/4 cup of bleach with one gallon of water.
after few test, bleach released more mold than using vinegar. after cleaning these toys, i put a little bit of glue on the holes of each toy to keep them clean. this has been wonderful!!! it has now been 3 months and the glue has successfully stayed on most of the toys. those i couldn’t helped, went to trash bag. 4. decorate a plain vase with a textured effect.
choose whatever pattern you want, circular, zig zag or straight. start in the middle of the container and work your way toward the top and then start again and finish to the bottom, or simply start at the bottom and go all the way up. its fine to have to stop and restart, the effect of having it uneven is wonderfully organic. if you want a more precise look, it may help
to have someone turn the container for you while you apply the hot glue line i found if i touch the tip of the glue gun to the vase, and push the tip ahead of the glue, i got a pretty smooth line tip: if you are seeing uneven globs of glue, it’s fine to work the tip of the glue gun back and forth to even them out while the glue is hot. allow it to cool.
for scaredy cats: you can always practice your glue lines and technique first on a piece of wax paper wrapped around and taped to the candle holder. also, remember, its a dollar store container, not a priceless antique, so give yourself permission make mistakes and have some laughs 5. you can also paint over your designs to create custom jars.
this is an awesome way to label things or write a cute message. a milk jar, fabric marker and glue gun are pretty much all you need.... instruction: get your hand on a milk jar, write one or two favorite words on it using fabric maker you prepared. and trace it with your glue gun.

this tutorial makes the same thing with just a clipboard and a glue gun. 7. transform any hanger into a non-slip hanger with just a little bit of glue. tired of clothes slipping off the hangers? simply put a wiggle of hot glue on each side of the hanger and let it dry, then put your clothes back on and no more slipping! 8. take the “slip†out of slippers
with just a strip of glue. very clever and yay for no trips to the emergency room! 9. make these crafty coral masterpieces with just some wire, glue, and paint. it looks intimidating, but here are step-by-step instructions. for the red coral: cut several pieces of wire in different size, between 4" and 16" long and fold them in two.
take your glue gun and cover all the wire with glue. give it a natural shape. do as much as your coral size required it. i did 9 wire pieces and the finish coral is about 7" high and 4" wide. 3. choose a color you like and paint every piece, i used acrylic paint and it works pretty good. let it dry. now you can begin to assemble your coral.
take 2 or 3 pieces and wraps a piece a wire around to tie them together. add 1 or 2 pieces and wrap again... repeat until all the pieces are bound. to have the coral stands straight just twist the wire properly. for the white coral: cut 3 pieces of wire between 12" and 14" long, tie one end together.
free your mind and fold the wire to make them look more natural. use your glue gun to cover the wire with glue. then add more layers of glue the best way you can to make the branches of the coral. add more layers, and layers, and.... until the shape become a little rigid. so you can flip it and start to add glue layers on the other side.
when you are satisfied with the shape, let it cool down completely and paint it. to make the base, cut a piece of wood an fix the wire on it. i used u nails and glue. to have a pretty finish, cover the base wire with glue and paint it the same color as your coral. 10. create faux roman shades without the hassle of sewing.
no sew = no problems. nope, i just busted out my trusty hot glue gun and whipped this faux roman shade up in about 20 minutes! all i did was measure my window to figure out how long and wide i needed my shade to be and then i added a couple inches to both the width and length to make room for hemming. then i used my iron to make easy to follow
hem lines. i made a larger hem at the top where i would be inserting the rod to hang the shade. once the seams are ironed it’s really easy to use a hot glue gun to “sew†them closed. you want to use a high temperature glue gun so that the glue doesn’t bead up and harden too quickly. working in small sections also helps to make
sure the glue doesn’t dry before the fabric is fused together. once all sides are hot glued, you’re ready to hang your shade. i like to gather the sides with my hot glue gun after it’s hung on the window. i just fold the fabric up and then put a small bead of hot glue to hold it in place. then stand back and say…………..
