it is an exciting time for parents and incoming college freshmen. now is the time to shop for your dorm room decor. our next guest says the best way to get started is identify what style you want for your room.
jennifer stockdale of ikea is here to help us do that. you have a couple years to go before you plan for college. [ laughter ] but i took the online quiz today. it was so easy and a lot of fun. there are different styles you
can choose from. it is really neat. yes. there are great results. you can go online to our website and right on the front page you can click on our back to college section which will give you the quiz that can help you start to plan for your
first dorm room. your first apartment or even if you are planning to stay at home and commute to college and you just want to refresh for your space. that is important also. i got casual and athletic. we got some really cute stuff
for that. there is this really cute racecar themed bedding. we have a little cute sporty stuff. let's walk through some of the items that you got. when you have. you want to prepare for all aspects of
college life or whatever you are going back to college for. we even meet a lot of students over the years dish actually just this past year just to find out what it is that they may have forgotten that was frequently forgotten days just to help to get them prepared a
little bit better. but you don't want to forget about your towels and toiletries. and you mentioned also flatware and plates. all of that stuff is one of the most forgotten items as well. you think i'm just going to
eat at the dining hall every day but the reality is how far your dorm room is from the dining hall. you deftly want some things in your room so you can make yourself a snack. the online quiz that people can take out there.
when i did it this morning it just walks you through a series of questions and they have pictures like where would you like to vacation etc.. how does the quiz work and what are some of the options. so it walks you through some personality questions asking
some things you are attracted to it it will come up with an answer for you. so there's preppy and chic, there is the casual and athletic. urban minimalist. we have seven different categories.
here is one of them. and this is an adventurous one. and we are having -- is this the chic? this is pastel. that's right. i like the painting on the wall. i want to move into one of
these dorm rooms. and so the online quiz is super easy and it will guide you to some items that may help. and products you may be interested in purchasing and still be practical so it will include things you want to be organized in your dorm room also. and
you also have new products this year? we do. i am really excited. first about this year we are offering kicks. grab and grow options. there are betting options if you are moving into a dorm or into an apartment.
there are common area, budget room taste bedroom options -- there are common areas, bedroom options, kitchen areas, great. and i remember this specifically. the mini fridge. do you have the mini fridge?
yes. we have a mini fridge you can order and the most exciting thing we have this year is we have in induction cooktop that is portable, supersafe for your it is about the size of a laptop so you can take it with you.
and if you use magnetic cookware which we also have at ikea, it heats up really fast and it only heats up when you put the cookware on the surface. as soon as you take it off the surface is cool again. that is great and deftly supersafe.
i remember in college there were restrictions on what you could bring into the dorm room because of fire hazards and all of that and the checklist option is great so you don't forget things like your cups and plates and things like that.
what else did you bring? we have great organizing items. you don't want to forget you will most likely have closet space and don't forget things like hangers. remember trash baskets, under bed storage. especially here if you are
going to college in pennsylvania, the weather is a little crazy in the fall and people don't realize that you are going to knee-jerk summer clothes and went to close both and a place to store them. there is boxes for that as well. i know you are holding
an event in the middle of july. this is something if you have the time you will come out to the ikea and robinson. it is july 14 through the 16th. we are going to have workshops. you can take the style quiz and bring your results in and they will help you even more to
decorate your room. we are going to have workshops on how to cook in your dorm room, so you're not just eating ramen numerals. [ laughter ] -- ramen noodles. we are going to do crafting projects also.
