hi, i'm ann myrick, and today i'm going toshow you how to choose lighting to complement your home decorating style. many things tothink about, as far as lighting. first of all, we're going to go room by room. whatis the style of the room? is the room traditional? is the room eclectic? is the room chevy chic,or is it minimal? you want to think about what the room is, and a lot of times if youhave an eclectic style, it doesn't really matter. you can blend and add and mix. youwant it to look well, but sometimes you don't have to focus on the exact style, but if youare 100% minimal, or 100% traditional, then you want to pick out your lamps, accordingly.you also want to think about how much light you need in that room. this room, the livingroom, does not have an overhead, and so all
my light source, is going to come from thisone window, along with the lamps that i put in. you'll see that i have two identical lamps,that are very tall, so it brings the light up, and then i have, they're a three way,and so i have like a 40-60, whatever that would be, 40-60-70, that if i want to dimthe light down a little bit, i can, or if i want the room really bright, i can go up.over here i have, this light is more for just creating a mood. it is a black lampshade,whichdoes not allow very much light out, and so i just more have it, i love the lamp, andit means a lot to me, and so i have it on the table, but it doesn't create a lot oflight, so i would not want this light, over on this table, where i'm going to read. i'mgoing to want a light that is high, and will
give me a lot of light, looking down. you can create, in looking for lamps, andin your lighting, you can create interesting looks by bringing in texture with your lamp,by bringing in interesting lampshades, so think out of the box, and have fun with yourlighting, and have fun with your lights, and just try to kind of think out of the box,and look at things differently. this is ann myrick, and that is how you choose lightingto complement your home's decorating style.
